Howden offers a Travel Service to provide advice for anyone planning to travel overseas. This is open to anyone, not just our registered patients. However, there is a fee for this service if you are not a registered NHS patient with us.
We recommend you plan at least 6-8 weeks before any intended travel, to allow adequate time for any vaccinations to take full effect.
If you are a registered NHS patient at Howden, some travel vaccinations are available free of charge. However, some are not covered by the NHS, and for these we will issue a private prescription. You will need to pay the dispensing pharmacy for these vaccines, which we can then administer. Malaria prophylaxis is also not covered by the NHS.
Howden is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. We hold a stock of this vaccine. The service includes administration of the vaccine, and the supply of a Yellow Fever International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP). The current fee for this service is £50, which is payable at the time of the vaccination.
To start the process, it is essential you complete a Travel risk assessment form and return it to us. You can also obtain a copy of this form from reception. Once we have reviewed your travel plans, one of our clinical staff will contact you by telephone to provide further advice, and arrange any vaccinations.
